Hikago Characters -- Le Ping

The Chinese Mini Waya –- Le Ping
(Go Character 119)

The Naughty boy whose igo soul is lit with fire.

The Height of Impertinent Playfulness
In the metropolis of Peking, Le Ping is a boy who dreams more of playing than studying go. Although his teacher and Yang Hai constantly scold him, his true strength as a pro is genuine.

Go Character Profile

A member of the Chinese Go Association/His home province is Yunnan/He’s the only child in his family/He plays many go games with Isumi/He’s best friends with Zhao Shi.

“I look sweet, don’t I?”

A Peerless Sicko.
Even though Le Ping was more interested in playing around than in whether he wins or loses at go, his rematch against Isumi changes him. He wants to win by any means, so he recklessly snaps at Isumi!

After Isumi’s overwhelming victory, Le Ping’s attitude completely changed.

As soon as Zhao Shi returned from the tournament, Le Ping tried to nag Zhao Shi into playing [games, messing around… not go] with him and was rebellious against Yang Hai. His parents are also worried that Le Ping is overwhelmed by the glamour of the big city.

Unlike their [Isumi and Le Ping’s] first battle, this wasn’t an easy victory; Isumi grew by playing games with Yang Hai, so it was a close match.

Le Ping was frustrated in his loss to Isumi, who he thought was a weak player. Without losing his disliked personality, he clings to studying, studying! No matter how many times, he plays go, plays go.
